Bob Cole

Bob Cole is SIM Australia’s NSW Ministry Director working alongside churches and individuals to facilitate a growing interest in God's mission around the world and inspire them to engage in cross-cultural ministry.

What began as a short-term mission trip to China in 1980 eventually led he and his wife Janet, and their three children, to Thailand for 6 years as missionaries involved in evangelism and church planting. After their return to Australia in 1994 Bob served for 16 years with the Bible League, an international scripture placement and church-planter training ministry. This included almost 6 years as leader of the ministry in the United States.

Over the past 30 years Bob has interacted with many local churches, pastors and missionaries in over 35 countries. He has seen the trials and tribulations of missionaries who often feel the loneliness of belonging to a local church which seems to have forgotten they exist, and struggles to relate with their particular spiritual and physical needs while they are on the field, and after they return.

In his role with SIM, Bob draws on his personal experience as he works alongside churches to help them understand what it takes to provide ongoing prayer, financial support and pastoral care to help those whom they commission and send as missionaries to be successful.

Bob and his wife Janet live in the Blue Mountains and in his spare time Bob enjoys being an amateur astronomer.

Bob will be leading the workshop on 'Engage as a Sender.'
