ACCESS

The theme of Hunter ReachOut in 2008 was ACCESS. It was ironic therefore that we couldn't get into our venue. Police had the area blocked off while they negotiated with a man on the roof of a neighbouring building! (He was there until 3pm). HRO 2008 nearly didn't happen. Many prayed and phone calls were made. The pastor of Mayfield Baptist Church generously opened up their venue to us.  Committee members manned signs at each road block and even the police redirected people wanting to attend HRO. Have a look at the Last Hunter ReachOut section so see some photos of the day.

Hunter ReachOut is an annual 'missions festival' held in Newcastle that gives the opportunity to local churches and Christians to come together and focus on obeying Jesus’ command to take his good news to the whole world. This year Islington Baptist Church is hosting the event.

Hunter ReachOut offers interactive seminars, conversations with people directly involved in cross cultural Christian mission, and gatherings where people share from their experience. Most of all the festival focusses on looking into the Bible to understand what the Lord himself is saying to us about the awesome task he has given us.

Representatives of the major evangelical missions, together with local mission initiatives, and the cooperative efforts of local churches come together to give you a day to explore the options to find out where you best fit in to play your role in giving people all over the world the chance to hear meaningfully the message of Jesus.

This year the theme of the event was 'ACCESS.' We highlighted the need to reach the 2 billion people in the world currently with no access to the gospel and our need to access means to reach them.

Have a look at the great speakers we had this year and have a look at the website towards the end of 2008 for details of the 2009 event.
